Welcome to the forum! Glad to see some more WWII impressionists around! There are several people in this area that enjoy WWII reenacting and replicas so I am sure sooner or later we'll be seeing plenty of those events spring up.
Usually our normal skirmishes at Kookaburra Field in Temple have no uniform restrictions so you would be fine wearing what you want. There are a few events that do have restrictions like OP Red Tide where you must wear either green or tan. But the era of the uniform isn't really restricted at most events, just color.
I look forward to seeing you on the field!

Good to hear about the WWII interest. Your uniform will rarely be restriced at events, except for certain OP's, but like Spooky said, that is based on the color of your uniform not era or design. I look forward to meeting you!

That's great to know there's more of us! I haven't seen many of us Texans on ww2aa.proboards.com (World War II Airsoft Association) I plan to wear dot camo mostly, maybe my 1936 dress tunic behind the lines. With OP's in the area, will I need to drag my zeltbahn (German military tent) out for overnight stay? By December my small 2 man unit plans to have a working mortar, pak gun, and maybe a kubblewagon. Thanks for the warm welcome, I plan on seeing y'all on the fields by June at the latest.

Welcome to the forum and the community LSK! I've been doing some research to work up a WWII era loadout like my Gfather would've worn. I'm gonna have to check out that link you mentioned! Look forward to meeting you on the field!

It's always good to get a uniform and equipment book on the unit you want to make an impression of and then a book of historical events they were in. So you know where they fought and exactly what they wore.

Caliban, what nationality and unit are you planning on doing? US Army 1-7 Cav "Garryowen". I'm planning on a trip to the 1st Cav museum at Ft. Hood to see what was worn in WWII. Then I'll see you for what I need Dave

Yea Caliban, there's some great stuff in that museum. Another wise thing to do is get a book on them and see what they carried and wore, so you know what choices you have. I would get your uniform before a primary weapon, for one main reason. Alot of companies are coming out with new WW II weapons. Since January 2 companies have created the ppsh (I've pre ordered one model already) and a BAR. A garand and carbine are coming soon. That's unless you wanted a Thompson

Then I'll see you for what I need Dave Having twitching flashbacks of time spent on the 1st Cav parade ground listening to the Garryowen. And then the loop of "Coming to America" on the monitor in the lobby of the museum.

ummm its my job to know what unit wore what. 1-7 cav HBTs belt low boots (rough outs) M-36 webbing M1 helmet have all in stock
also get your weapon first. if you get a grand you need a different belt than for a Thompson. grease guns need different pouches than a Thompson or carbine, etc.... Dave

Roger that Dave. I know he had a 1911A1( I have a photo of him with it)and that's why I'm planing on my 1st GBB being that. But I don't know what his primary was. He was a Capt, I don't know if that would help determine what he had, I'll also bring the pic w/me next time. Maybe you can tell from that too.

ok normaly, again NORMALY but not allways you will not have a M1911 and a carbine on the same soldier (both shoot about the same bullet (as far as FPS etc).
so if he was a officer and in the infantry he probably had a M1 grand with the M1911.
now if on a vehicle (jeep, M3A1 etc) it was probably a M1 thompson.
no if he was on a AFV (tank / M8/20 etc) he could have had a M3A1.

I honestly want to try to get a japanese WWII outfit going on. But it's the weaponary that will get me. The rifle I want is Tanaka type 99. Think that will be different.

you can get a IJA rifle for cheap at lots of gun shows, strip it down and have the BRL drilled out and install a swiss arms bolt gun in it. takes some work and you will be fine.
uniforms and gear at stuarts militaria in AZ.

thegreatmrpoo- just a suggestion, go to www.ww2aa.proboards.com then go to the armory section, and there are hundreds of reliable 'how-to's' on non-mainstream weaponry being produced.

WW2 AS is a good forum, but don't worry about the Burl, you have to drill it out big enough to put the airsoft brl inside it. if you take it to a machine shop they have to do it for you. it needs to be bout 10 to 12 mm (about 4-5 mm larger).
if you get a rifle with the mum defaced than you should be able to get it for around 100 or less. one way is to go to a gun show and put a sign on your back "looking for a trashed jap type 99 parts gun". many collectors have them at home thinking they are not worth the effort to bring them to the show.

Yes Bolt, that video is awesome. Of course it seems only European events are video taped, you can only find pictures of American events. I know in Arizona, they're trying to do a East meets West event, where an IJA soldier will crash with a 101st Paratrooper, and a German with a US Marine, etc.
