Ok so I recently ordered an rs Svd and then after 3 weeks of waiting, I was informed that there was a shipping complication with the order and was givin the opportunity to get a refund. What I'm wanting to know is... Since I want to do a sniper build, should I just get the m14 that dave has and upgrade it or try and have him find me another Svd. I'm not really looming for out of the box performance. But rather more parts compatability than anything else. And being that the sniper rifle will not be my main duty weapon but more or less an alternate, I will have time to build it up/ have someone help of course cause my knowledge of of aeg's is still minimal at best.

svd vs M-21 (sniper M-14)
svd looks cool sniper (?) out of the box upgrade may be a issue mags if not AK type may be hard to get (like my L1A1)
M-21 easy to upgrade better as a skirmish gun easy to mount a scope on, any scope if it breaks, easy to fix mags are 15 for midcap / 25 for hi cap
your choice

Did you order thru Evike? Same thing happened to me with them, first time I really had a problem as far as ordering. But aside from that, the RS SVD is part specific. It uses a unique piston and gear set. So those parts are expensive and hard to come by. It uses 4 gears instead of one. DMR/ "Sniper rifles" are a big money hole, and are not cheap. Putting a mock silencer and longer Tight bore doesn't make it a DMR. DMR builds take time, money, alot of research. I did do a moderetly cheap DMR build if you want to call it that. It's posted somewhere in the AEG/sniper section.
But on to your question. There are more SVD makers out there. Classic Army has one that uses their CA-25 parts A&K makes a spring powered one that isn't to bad.
As for the m14, that is a good base to build off of. MIlitary still uses them, and is a allaround great gun. Taking the m14 apart, to me is a bitch to get to. But once you FINALLY get into the internal gear box, I found it the easiest to work on. Everything just lines up. Just doesn't have any motor height adjustments' such as the V.2 GB.
Some parts I would look into
at least a m130 spring
A full no cut cylinder
Aluminum cylinder head
reinforced piston with at least 5 metal teeth
Reinforced Torque gears
a Motor to actually pull the spring
Tokyo Mauri Shims
upgraded piston spring.
Low resistance Wiring
AB MOSFET
Tightbore barrel
I ran a madbull blue bucking for the longest, and for me those worked the best. and H nub

We will go based off of the Version 7 gearbox since that one in mind.
depends whatever your limit is honestly. i have about 600-700$ put into mine, Thats fairly cheap for a DMR. Your biggest Noticeable difference will come from your TBB. There are also some DIY mods that you can do. Polish your gearbox, greaseing ur bearings, sealing your hop up and what not.
Best thing to do is go to a airsoft site and see the prices on everything. I would try to get the most of your parts from one place to save on your shipping costs and such. Do some "window" shopping and complie a list of stuff you need

The RS svd is mag specific. It no longer comes with the extra set of gears. The first version was shooting 400 out of the box. The Ver. 2 are shooting between 460-480 it seems from the reviews. The performance is remarkable but how long does it stay that way nobody knows but the people who own them.
