As a player, your first choice will be whether you want to be a soldier or a free Texian Independent. A soldier ain’t got to worry bout where his next meal or water will come from, but lacks the freedom to explore all Miranda has to offer. As a free Texian Independent you can jump on a Crew or be a Settler to have the joy to carve out a homestead on this new world, earn some coin as hired labor in a Facility and guard you and your loved ones with wit and trusty weapon, also called freedom sticks.
As a soldier, you can fight for either the Alliance (green/black) or the Dust Devils (tan).
Big Candy will be CO for the Alliance and Grim will be CO for the Dust Devils.
As an Independent, each man and woman is his or her own CO.
Alliance:
Matching green military uniform or predominately green or black contractor apparel. Players may not wear jeans, tan t-shirts, hats, headgear or other confusing articles of clothing. Load-bearing equipment allowed in any color, but if possible green or black (or Purple!).
Dust Devils:
Matching tan military uniform or predominately tan contractor apparel. Players may not wear green t-shirts, hats, headgear or other confusing articles of clothing. Load-bearing equipment allowed in any color, but tan or Multicam preferred. (Multicam and ACU are tan).
Texian Independents:
Ordinary settlers, the true successors to the Independents and Browncoats of the Firefly series; in Western wear and civilian clothes, perhaps with some mismatching military clothes for certain classes, and load-bearing equipment. Settlers reside in the outlying areas and in the main town. However, at the start of the game, those in the main-town will have been evacuated and be in a refugee camp near the parking area. The refugee camp will be a weapons free zone and all weapons must be left outside the zone. Settlers will give contracts to crews and may hire onto crews, if they have the requisite skill set. On the day of the game, Independents will pick their class and be issued a card.
