It's a gun I've had my eye on for some time now, and it only seems to have some wiring issues, that is when ordered from HotToyImports. I'll list it's stats below.
Medium Range to CQB weapon Can hold up to 470 BBs per mag, I plan on having 3 including the one the gun comes with. Fires at 350 FPS Full metal gearbox built-in. Adjustable Hop-up Mostly sturdy plastic, some internals are metal. Only 90 bucks. It seems like a killer rifle, and I have the money to get it and the metal face mesh. Seeing how I'm pretty young and somewhat agile, I'll probably turn the G36C into a light weapon I can easily move around the field with. I'll list the attachments I'm after below, if it's cheaper at the shop at the field, I'll just buy and install them on the range.
UTG Deluxe Ergonomic Foregrip, 10 bucks. Off-set Flashlight mount for 1" Diameter flashlights, 6 bucks.

I love mine, but there are a few problems with it. 1. The fuse wiring is terrible. 2. The mags are huge and don't like to fit in pouches. 3. Improper disassembly will likely break your hop-up.
That being said, I wouldn't trade mine for anything else still. If you have any specifics questions, I can answer those.

Yeah, I saw a bunch of reviews about the gun, the stock battery sucks, the wiring likes to burn out, and the Gearbox has a cheap oil in it. For 90 bucks, that's a deal I can't pass up. Plus, I'd be using a utility belt rather than a vest, so fitting mags won't be a problem. I know German weapons well, specifically, the G36 series. I know it's iron sights are pretty bad, but I'm not exactly wanting to put a sight on it. I know plenty of good Red Dot Sights to put on it. And, how much does a upgrade to 400 FPS cost and what do you recommend?

Most players who have purchased that G36 either end up leaving it at home or in the car because it has issues. Save up a little longer or buy a used M4.
I'm sure dave at the shop or one of the players can square you away with *something* that's better than g36.

guns are like girls or cars, you never know what you are going to like till you have one in front of you. but I think that going for a g36 as a starter gun is the wrong answer.... but people still do it and learn latter.

Aside the crappy wiring and other issues, it seems to be a pretty good gun. Though, I am an American but I favor German weaponry more, just better built.

but people still do it and learn latter. I later learned that they are sweet. Personal opinion though. If we ever meet up, I can let you borrow mine for a bit, but there isn't much of the JG left now. As for upgrading to 400 FPS, I don't really recommend that, but I think the gun would be alright if you just put in an M120. You also might already be shooting at 400 FPS though, because clones tend to increase their FPS, to look nice on the spec sheet.

ok I really don't know why you are talking about this gun like you can get it new any more.... you cant, not in the US. and not for that price. you can get the HK umerex version for about 160 without anything with it. if its about 90.00 its probably the plastic gear box version. if you get it used, you are going to get all the used gun issues. dave

I'll say my .02cents.
When I started I bought a $120 AGM M4 AEG.
It was my first Airsoft gun. I played with it in the backyard and it was awesome. Shot well and fast. But when I took it to my first big OP (Urgent Fury) I couldn't hit anything after 30-40 feet. While everyone else was tagging me left, right, up, and down. It was not a good time. I had fun but I could of had much MUCH more if I knew what to buy. (Research and Patience)
I still have it....its a taken apart and has never been put together. Haha.
Point is had I had the patience and done my research I would of realized I was not gonna get a field worthy replica without some knowledge about airsoft and the inner/outer workings of it.
My advice would be this. Go to Dave's field and store look at what he has, look at all the players ask them questions(most will be happy to tell you what they have) use a rental gun (they are pretty decent but not super excellent) and see what works for you. Plenty of platforms M4 AK Sig 551/552 G36 etc each have their pros and cons. Most available and with aftermarket parts out the wazoo are the M4 platform.
If you have any more questions I'll be happy to help.

It's a metal gearbox and solid plastic frame. It has some wiring issues when it comes down to the trigger and the Battery pack area is hard to get open. I've looked around and it's an overall solid weapon for ~100 dollars, that being said I'm sure there's better out there, and Dave probably has it at the store. I'd love a ~100 dollar SCAR-L or SCAR-H, but those float around 400-500 dollars. I'm trusting my gut and most of the reviews for it. Plus, the only gun with these kinds of reviews around the G36 body is made by H&K, and it's mostly ~200 dollars with the high-rail G36K body. Still, this beats my crappy little Stinger R39 my dad got me last year. Plus, if I'm heading up to the field it's a 2 hour drive from Georgetown, and I would go to play, not sit in a store and wonder what AK74M or M4A1 I'm going to get. And, I'd get it new.

You can either come early and see what he has or talk with him after the day is over so you don't lose any game time. Also, It can't take two hours to get to the field from Georgetown. I drive from Austin and pass through Georgetown and it only takes me an hour.

if this is your first high-end gun, get an m4. they are going to have less problems than a g36. this is simply because there are so many versions of them they have almost been perfected. plus, not very many companies make g36 compared to an m4. You will never have a problem finding any piece to an m4. most people use m4s (or ak's) so you will be able to borrow/lend magazines easy. plus, there easier to maintain. An m4 will probably have a longer range than a g36 because of its longer barrel. If you don't like m4's, get an ak. pretty much the same stuff I said about the m4 applies to the ak as well. The g36 is a popular model, but not anywhere near as popular as the m4 and ak. You can get a jg m4 for between $120-$150 and still have a pretty decent gun. If you want a g36, you would be better of saving your money and then finding a Tokyo Marui for sale, but those are usually $200-$300. anyway, like I said, if its your first high-end gun, go with one of the top 2 models. this will make it easy to find parts. and the m4 magazines are cheaper than the g36 mags.

There's a way to make the G36 adapt to M4 Mags. Oh, and does anyone know a good 9.6v Battery that could go in it? I already got a Smartcharger on my list.

If there's anything I've learned about buying airsoft guns, buy it from Dave. Online retailers have given me guns filled with dirt, and guns that came broken and I had to pay the shipping back. Dave does have a point though, unless you do it, you never learn.

I have it at the moment, only issue I have with it is how the mag loads and the battery's compartment and the lack of side-rails kinda sucks, but I still love it.

How much for one side-rail? I'd really only need to attach a flashlight or laser.

After a long silence, I have returned!
Still have this gun, still works wonders. Used it at Texas Paintball over in Cedar Park and it did great. Take that with a grain of salt, since I was mostly fighting M4s and AKs in the same price range. Haven't got around to getting side rails though, which I should probably do.
As for the advice you guys have given me, it's really helped in the long run. Some of my pals from ROTC decided to use the info you fine gentlemen passed down the line and got M4 variants as their first guns, which have arguably better range then the G36.
I'd also like to use this post to apologize for my previous behavior, and not taking the advice of senior airsofters on what to, and not to do.
TL;DR: The gun is great, thanks guys.

Don't worry about it. Sometimes we end up learning things the hard way. Glad to hear that your gun is working great!
