I'm at the young age of 13, getting ready to get into a sport that doesn't involve bats.
I decided after watching a bunch of videos of Airsoft to actually give it a go myself. I'm a vivid gamer with strong team-play attributes, and living in Central Texas, there are no good outdoor fields around me, all I saw was Houston this, Fort Worth that. I'm happy I found one of Dave's posts on another site about the field in Temple because it led me to one of the last somewhat well known outdoor fields in Central Texas.
My parents are fully supportive of me getting into Airsoft, after having plenty of Nerf Wars and being drilled by my dad on weapon safety, I feel as though it's time I get into this sport, and make Temple my main field. I haven't played Airsoft on a professional field, or at all really. I doubt most people will respond, but tips are much appreciated.
At the moment, I have a pretty bad weapon by most of the normal player's standard. I have a Stinger R39 made by Crosman, it's a durable rifle, but I can't hit anything and my friend broke the front sights. I already know what weapon I want, and it's a good beginner's rifle. The Jing Gong G608 Airsoft Electric Gun K36c AEG. It has good reviews, most of which talking about faulty wiring, but a overall good, sturdy weapon. I'm wondering if this rifle is worth the price tag if I were to use it at Temple.
Thanks, Mitch/Whiplash.

Hi Whiplash, glad to see another player join the hobby as well as the Temple community!
If you want some more general tips, a simple google search will take care of that. But in my opinion, the best thing to do is to just get out and play. Every time you go to a skirmish, you will quickly figure out what works for you and what won't and you can change your loadout or style accordingly. One thing about your first gun though, I would strongly suggest getting a gun that uses the standard M4 magazines. From what I've seen, they are easier to find and cheaper.
If you have the cash, I recommend getting an Echo 1 XCR from Dave. I haven't shot one myself, but I've seen several people run around with it and I heard nothing but good things about the gun.

Well, the G36C keeps dropping in price on Amazon so I'll probably get that, and a M4 Mag adapter for it. Sadly, I'd probably only make it out for the night fight on the 27th. I still have to find a flash light at a reasonable price for my gun so I can fight out there, mag cover, Camelbak, foregrip, ect. I'll make sure to introduce myself and check out the store when I get there.

Hi and welcome to the community.
For a starter gun I would also recommend Dave's stock of XCRs not only for the mags being easy to find but it is also pretty light as well as reliable. Also when looking at gear go really simple and ask around, see what others are running to get a base idea but, also make it work for you because you don't want to fight with your gear. You also need to bring water, a bottle or two with you, as well a gallon or so at the staging area to fill up with. All in all have a great time and hope to see you out there.

I already ordered my JG G608, but I'm hoping to get a DMR around Christmas. Bought a biking CamelBak 2 liter for 25 bucks. I've been preparing myself to drop by Temple here soon in good condition with all of my gear.

Welcome to Airsoft, Whiplash. Most importantly get FULL sealing eye protection and a mouth guard. It is required for players under 18 at Temple. And have fun.
