I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but some fields have banned the use of Bioval .27g silica BB's because of things like this image. Basically, these BB's are much, much harder than standard BB's, so while a regular BB would deform slightly upon impact, these don't, so all force is transmitted directly into a very, very small area. If it tells you anything, the manufacturer recommends using face protection rated for shotgun blasts and shrapnel. Here is a thread about them. From 50 feet away, muzzle velocity 340fps, these can destroy the lenses in the popular Arena FlakJak goggles. It was a 260fps shot from a Tokyo Marui gas blowback pistol that put a hole straight through the side of this coke bottle. There are also reports of shattering car windows.

That's really bad looking. But how are people like Dave supposed to know what brand bb players are using?

It requires a lot of self-discipline and the group policing ourselves. We need to know and when we see someone using these, we need to let them know not to and why. If the field bans these, then we, as a community, should correct anyone we see with them. If they don't listen, I am sure Dave will make sure they understand.
Good information.

These are pretty much the only clear BB's out there, so they're pretty easy to find. Matrix also rebrands them, so basically any clear BB that can't be proven as something else should not be used.
Edit: I should stop reposting what I read on forums so much, the general consensus among most people elsewhere is that Matrix does not rebrand these.

First, you dont mean these are glass do you? And second, glass? Why would anyone want a glass bb? Plastic won't shatter like glass. Also, when did they start making metal bbs for airsoft guns? Might have to get some for the cats that keep getting in our yard and wrecking stuff. There's one that likes to sit on our car and he scratched it really bad. The hood and roof.

First, you dont mean these are glass do you? And second, glass? Why would anyone want a glass bb? Plastic won't shatter like glass. These BB's have silica in them, which is a component of glass. They aren't glass, but they are much harder than plastic BB's. Also, when did they start making metal bbs for airsoft guns? Might have to get some for the cats that keep getting in our yard and wrecking stuff. There's one that likes to sit on our car and he scratched it really bad. The hood and roof. SMH, let me Google that for you. Here. And just FYI, plastic BB's will work just fine for shooting neighborhood pests, and do not shoot in public places. If you live in a neighborhood, your front yard counts as a public place.

Can it be seen by your neighbors? If yes, then it counts as a public place in this situation.

well if someone was to walk on your front yard, you have the right to kick them off, so it is private property in that case. and if it belongs to you, you should be able to do what you want on it.

Just remember that the bbs do NOT know where the boundary of your property is.

I know, I meant that motormouth said the front yard is a public place because people can see it.

I *think* I understand the point of this post, but the relevancy is somewhat missing.
These BB's have not been available for years and all posts and references of them (including your linked source) is 3 years old.
Where is the source that says the Matrix BB's are rebrands of Biovals?

shadhawk, the point is moot. if you are in the city limits and shoot a airsoft gun, you just broke the law if you don't have permits. per state statue you CAN be locked up for it due to the fact that it is listed as a title 1 firearm (state statute). they don't care if its a 7.62 or a airsoft gun its against the law
