i thought the ak47 had the short barrel like that and a 74 had a really long barrel?
so what is the distinguishing difference between the two?

AK47 and 74 are basically the same gun but the 74 is chambered for the 5.56 round (real steel) resulting in different mags (airsoft/real steel). The 74 also has a different flashider compared to the 47. This is an AK74U, which is the compact version of the AK74.

So whats tthe question here in airsoft they have same barrel and yes the flashhider is defferent

The AK47 and AK74 were both designed by Mikhail Kalashnikov (currently a 93 year old dude chillin' in Russia). The AK47 was designed in 1947 and chambered for the 7.62x39mm round, the AK74 was designed in 1974 and chambered for the 5.45x39mm round (NOT the 5.56x45mm). The 7.62x39 has more of a cone shape to it than the 5.45x39 so the magazines have a much more pronounced curve. As far as the airsoft versions go, the magazines are different looking and most of the time the 74 variants have a different flash hider. i put around 220$ into this gun so but im only selling it for 220 cause im not gunna get out of it what i put in it Yeah buddy! I believe he meants 220 dollars in parts, plus the price of the base gun, although I could be wrong.
Also, this is supposed to be an AKS-74U, the U for short, the S for the folding stock.
Which makes me thing that a real AK-74U would be the Beta Spetsnaz guns.
Also, I've always wondered but I've never known for sure. Do airsoft AK variants share mags, or do 74 style guns only take the 74 style mags, the same on the 47s?

The mags are cross-compatible for airsoft guns, unless we're talking Real Sword, then I'm not sure.
