Ok so I first found out about this game from the thread on here for the game and thought "yeah last year was pretty sweet but I'm not sure if its worth the drive "
I then attended Operation Elf Gathering 2 in which Dave was telling everyone that it was gonna be awesome and spots were filling up. I was then thinking "aw man maybe I should go!" So I pre-registered after deciding which team to go with (I had multiple camos that could be used for multiple roles in the game) I narrowed it down between my Desert DPM for the UK forces and my Desert MARPAT for the USMC. I registered for USMC.
My day began at 6 AM when I woke up to unplug my batteries and shove all my crap into the car and start my 2.5 hour drive to temple. the drive was full of sketchy roads, near death experiences, horribly unsafe law breaking drivers (Standard Texas Motorists), Katy Perry, and me eventually talking to myself about nothing.
I arrived at the field around 8:30ish which gave me enough time to get my gear together, mags loaded, and overall ready for the day. I got all my stuff ready, checked in, talked with Danarchy, and then noticed something... I was the only person on the field wearing Desert MARPAT. I later talked with Aztec who confirmed my suspensions. I was the only member of the USMC 7th MEU. (I know what you're thinking and yes I know very well that I should have gone with the DPM and UK forces...) So after a quick briefing with LT, the leader for NATO forces, I was transferred from Jarhead-6 to Mustang-6, the Calvary unit. From there I met with my squad leader Headshot. he gave the squad our briefing and then proceeded to bribe the local town mayor/sports superstar/village idiot (AKA that guy who started the first Reforger conflict) with delicious cookies so that they would support NATO forces.
I attended the morning briefing for a couple of seconds before being recruited to help Headshot get Dave's Sierra/APC jump started. We did so and attended the last part of the briefing/raffle (I didnt win anything, but didnt care. I got a sweet T-shirt). From there we geared up, I loaded my A4 rifle and moved to our starting position at the Northern most NATO regen flag. Our mission was to move far beyond enemy lines and take their southern most regen flag. The game began and we headed south toward our objective. we passed by the town and toward the tall cane field where we met our first enemies. a fire fight ensued and I took my first death and kill of the day. I went back to the second closest regen and returned to my squad who were still engaging the enemies at the cane field. we also learned there was an enemy mortar nearby, so we set a detour toward it. after a considerable amount of BBs, a thunder B, and so help from other US forces, we pushed through the awful cane field only to find an open field followed by even moar cane we needed to traverse. we pushed through it, slaughtered moar rooskies, lost more of our men, and denied them of their mortar. After that we made a push (more like a stroll) toward their regen flag and quickly disabled it. From there I was lost. My squad was wiped out and went to regen. I was a lone Marine with no moar orders .
It was there where I found the UK forces planing to make a push toward the Soviet regen at the trenches. I decided to tag along because I had nothing else to do and I wanted to go shoot some stuff. So we headed toward the trenches, sluaghtered even moar russians, hopped/tripped over the fence, and advanced on the flag. I was shot and returned to the second closest regen and decided to hook up with some squad mates in the town, got up to my favorite tower, and engaged Russians from a distance. NATO forces took the flag and that was the end of that segment.
Lunch was called and I reloaded my mags, ate delicious wendys and bribes/cookies, petted SWAT and LADY SWAT's dogs, and attended a briefing. It was here Dave announced that there would be no night game due to his sickness. After much feedback he changed his mind cause he's good guy dave and the night game would still happen.
for the second part of the game the UK forces would join US forces in a joint operation to take down moar soviets (just like in call of dooty!). The factions would also switch sides. So NATO began on the South/East side and vice versa.
We began at the Trenches where we were to take out the soviet regen flag at the southwest corner of the AO. The game began and we headed toward our objective only to be stopped about 250ft away from it by enemy forces. here we learned there were enemy forces in the local town as well. we decided to back off the regen flag and attempt to take the town. I made it to the large conex when we received a broadcast alerting us that all locals were to be considered hostile (previously it was that Blue arm-banded locals= good, none= neutral, yellow= threat). before we could make a major push into the town, Dave called a ceasefire and a restart of the segment. this time giving the Soviets a handicap of a 5 minute head start. (apparently they're that one kid in Mario party who needs one star to start with in order actually have a chance). So we went back to the southern most regen flag, watched the soviets advance on us into the cane field and stop. The game began for us and we obliterated the soviet forces in the cane field and advanced toward the southwest soviet regen flag only to find that the soviets we obliterated had returned......with moar soviets ....
we tried to take them on with no avail and decided to tactically retreat (we ran away). The soviets pushed us out of the Southeast regen flag, we tried to hold them off at the tree line but their numbers and will were too great for us. after being lit up like a Christmas tree I regened at the trenches and tried to hold them off for as long as my ammo would last. They breached the fence and began to flank us. I thought I had the main fence line under control until their APC arrived with moar troops. I expended the last of my Rifle ammo but it was no use. You kill one, three more take his place. I pulled out my 1911 and continued to defend the regen hoping some type or relief force or backup would arrive only for it to be dashed away by a 6mm BB to the goggles. with no ammo, no back up, and the Russians pushing as hard as they did, I felt there was no point in going to regen. So I just moved aside and watched the evil doers march into the trenches with no mercy, slaughtering every young American and British soldier that stood remotely in their way. It was tough to watch but a glimmer of hope appeared in the distance in the form of Multicam. It appears that after taking the Southeast flag, the Soviets concentrated all forces on the trenches thus leaving it unprotected. So our guys moved in swiftly and changed the flag back to NATO, while the Russians took the flag at the trenches which lead them to believe that they had won that segment.
we rallied up with Dave near the town and learned that the score was 2.5 to .5. With NATO as the victor, it again goes to show that good shall conquer evil. Dinner was called and I loaded my MP5 mags and ate some TBell before the night game began.
The night game was held in the town only and NATO was significantly out numbered by the Soviets. We started on the west side of town and attempted to decimate the enemy team. I decided to join Aztec in his escapade of destroying the enemy. the game was short and I'm still not sure who won. The second game was the same but we switched sides. so with that I called it a night and headed back to the car and packed up. I left the field around 8:30 PM (I was there for about 12 hours! yay!)
The drive home was full of moar near death experiences, Texas drivers, tiredness, and Chevelle. Once home I left all my crap in the car, and passed the f*** out happily knowing I wouldn't have to wake up to go to Forney till 8 ;D
Great game, didn't see any hit shrugging, wasn't safety killed, and overall no BS was involved.
