I'll start out by saying this, I had a great time at reforger. There were some issues but I think most of them were players faults and not on Dave or the other OC's.
Arrival: Upon arriving early I was surprised to see that I was only the third person there. This kind of dissapointed me. For a large scale game like this I think everyone should get there as early as possible. I noticed people showing up 10 minutes before the planned start time and some even late. If you sign up for a milsim game PLEASE be on time. Not only does it cause confusion but it makes Daves job a lot harder.
Sign in/Chrono/Briefing: Sign in was simple. I payed at the door which was only an extra $5 and my spot for UK 16th was secured just like Dave had promised. I then proceeded to go to the chrono station where the OC asked me to chrono my gun. It was done in a safe fashion but as others have stated I woul like to see the chrono being checked with BBs provided by the field. This prevents others from trying to lie and possibly having injuries on the field with guns shooting hot. The safety briefing started a little late but thats expected at a large op. It went b fairly quick and all rules that needed to be touched on were. Dave then asked if any players had questions which I think is good to make sure everyone is clear. I was slightly dissapointed in the fact that players thought it to be necessary to ask random questions which ultimitaly delayed the game more. But what dissapointed me more was other players yelling rude remarks to get people to stop. Airsoft is a game for fun. Everyone jokes around every once in a while and I found it slightly immature for others to do that.
Game 1: Game one started rather rocky with several cases of friendly fire. I don't blame Dave for this but I do blame players for not properly studying the teams before hand. I do applaud the allied commander for handing each squad a list of opfor camos. This was very well organized on his part and helped out a lot. I was dissapointed with the fact that the only objectives for this "milsim" op were to capture flags but it was still fun and made some very interesting firefights.
Game 2: I was rolling with UK 16th Air assault. We had a team of only 5 players so most of our shooting was in aiding larger squads such as 1st CAV and the Clan reckoning chaps. Which brings me to one of the highlights of the game. NATO helped Clan Reckoning assault an outpost and absolutely rol over the competition. It's always a pleasure to play with a skilled group like Clan Reckoning. Game 2 had several minor altercations and some injuries but all was taken care of rather quickly by the OCs. In order to start rumors I will say that I'm not aware why but the Russian commander decided to leave early which brought an end to game 2.
Game 3: Game 3 started rocky for the allied forces due to the fact that we lost our marines and unknowingly lost GSG-9 which resulted in me standing right next to a GSG-9 player that had been a friendly all day. Game 3 was rather quick and didn't seem to have any problems.
Closing: All around I had a great day. There were some flaws but I think most of which fall on the players beeing irresponsible.
I strongly thank the allied commander for his sportsmanship and organization. He gave everyone great orders which I think helped us win the first 2 games. He also supplied everyone with the propper knowledge of Bluefor and Opfor and gave everyone callsigns and countersigns which helped tremendously. Thsi may just be me but I think due to his performance the allied forces were more successful and had a much more fun day.
Thanks everyone for a great Op. Especially Dave.
