So break the end off and then crack the rest of it and peel it off? I don't have another orange one is the problem. How much for a metal orange tip? I want to be able to switch between black and orange

Break the tip off?? What?? No.. why? it's not necessary...in fact you stand more of a chance to pooch the threads by doing that since you'll be using some sort of knife, pliers or dinner fork to accomplish it.
Why do you want to switch between black and orange? If you have a need to switch back to orange, then perhaps it would be best for you to simply keep the orange flash hider on.

Make sure there isn't a set screw holding it on.

What did Dave mean crack the flash hider off then? I've got some saying melt the glue and some saying crack the flash hider. What the heck am I supposed to do? I don't care if I break the plastic flash hider. And I checked and there's no set screw, it's just glued

Did you run a hair dryer on the tip for ten minutes before unscrewing it?

This isnt rocket science. If you break the flash hider off you will most likely leave glue in the threads. Try the blow dryer trick if that doesn't work try Daves method. Just make sure heat the flash hider nice and long that will help for both methods.

Would several midcaps be better or a drum mag? I like the drum mag cause it's electric and holds more, but with the midcaps if one breaks I have more. Plus I cant really make any use of a sling with the drum mag, but there is still the huge supply of ammo that's automatically fed.

many places will not let you use a drum mag in a game, not a squad weapon.
