I was planning on going to the training since it was announced on the forum. LT had originally asked me to help teach the gear set up station but with the numbers we had I ended up just being a student and I had a blast.
Arrival: I got to the field around 8:20 and there was already several others there just gearing up, browsing the store, etc. I had all my mags preloaded so I just chated with players and started preping my gear.
Sign in/chrono: Sign in and chrono was easy as usual. Went smooth. I don't think anyone chronoed over the limits which is always nice. There were around 14+/- students.
Training: We started out as a group going over basic gun control, formations, and the like. We broke off into squads of 4 to do more squad based training. I was my squads leader to start with and I rolled with my teammates Caliban and Diamondback and our buddy Bacon was in our squad. All in all I think our squad picked up on the formations pretty well. We moved as a squad always had someone watching our 6 and we communicated well. We worked on calling contact, designating a rally point, and bounding in the town. All of that went well and I think everyone learned some stuff. Everyone got a chance to be squad leader. We moved on to pie the corner and high low manuvering which went pretty fast. The highlight of my day was probably when our trainer asked me why I was even taking the classes because I seemed to know the stuff as well as the trainers. That made me feel kinda rangertastic. After squad training we all gathered back together and everyone worked on shooting positions and switching from standing to crouching to prone. This is always helpful but I kind of regret not wearing long sleeves because my elbows are really scratched up.
Lunch break: Myself and some other guys went to wendeys. I got a double baconator. Score!
Skirmishes: We broke into attack and defend teams. Defending team had 4 players. The attackers had a squad of 3 and 4. I went with Diamondback, Gadget, and Samurai. We started off pretty well and advanced into the town. Samurai went straight up ninja and built me some cover out of spare plywood which was AWESOME until I got shot in the face. Diamondback and Samurai used a peice of plywood as a sheild and advanced. I got back from respawn and got a kill immediately. I rallied up with another player and we pushed into the town. I got into a connex and shot the final defensive player (Fox) in the back to win the first round. After that my gun went down. I went back to get another gun and I checked my phone and I got an invite to go out to eat so I ended up leaving heh.
All in all it was a great day. Everyone learned a lot, the teachers were awesome, and we got some trigger time in. Thank you to LT, Nightmare, Kraut, and Samurai for being great teachers and thank you Dave for letting us use the field.
