Truer words never spoken, ladies and gents. Camelback company has a pretty smart slogan: HYDRATE OR DIE!!! We're in the freakin' heart[burn] of Texas. Its only gonna get hotter....a LOT hotter!! Dehydration can and WILL kill you if u do not bring a source of water to the field. Not just gatorade or Powerade...waaaaaaater! (And if iever catch u kids chugging nothing but mt dews and monsters out there ill momma slap u.) Its not even enough to keep it in ur car; u must have source of water WITH u, on your person! It may not be mandatory in the kookaburra field waiver, but its not OC6's responsibility in the first place. Health and safety starts with priority #1...YOU. One little 20 oz bottle might cover it... as long as its part of the bulk box of 20 u can get at walmart for like $6. Carry a bottle in a pouch or pocket when playing. There's plenty of camelbaks and canteens at dave's store too. one camelback or two canteens would be sufficient...but STILL have that extra frickin water in the car!!! May sound costly....but it's helluvalot cheaper than a life-lite ride to the hospital cuz u passed out of severe dehydration and heat stroke. (And none of us CLS and first aid certified guys are in the mood to drag ur sorry butt to OUR cars and haul u off to the nearest hospital > ) I take this seriously ladies and gents, so should u. Truer words have never been spoken. You think, "This wont happen to me". Your wrong. If you think just living here makes you acclimatized then once again your wrong. When you go running in uniform across an open field with the sun beating down on you, your going to feel that heat. Water is a must. I use a 3 liter Camelbak. And I have drained that on long days.
We are shifting into summer. Ensure you have plenty of water on you and are wearing sun screen. Their is a reason all branches have covers. Hats keep the sun off your head and keep you cooler providing some shade for you. Make sure you watch your buddy for the signs of a heat injury.
Take care, and remember preventive measures pay dividends, while reactive measures are costly.

Hydrating starts a day or two BEFORE the skirmish!!!
Drinking soda and energy drinks every day before the skirmish then chugging a bottle or two of water at the beginning of the day won't cut it.

Hydration should happen throughout the entire week.. Drink water regularly.. Not just soda.. Make sure it gets down to the tissues...

i have spent a lot of money this last week to get over this problem with the new aid station. with this we will stockpile 100 bottles of water / a litter / fan / coldpacks / med gear / etc in a nice shadded building. this way with the new water points we will have water no more than 5-600 ft away from the farthest player on the field at any one time.
will also have bottles in the black truck with med kit on the side.
i dont charge for water but if anyone wants to donate a flat it will be given out just like the rest.

Aid station sounds like a good idea, but people should also bring they're own source of water, or gatorade for me also soda's before skirmish's keeps me awake throughout the whole thing, and usually till the next morning but yea, hydration does matter, and next time i go I will try to bring a ice chest with water and other drinks for that problem because of Texas's heat.
