For me the day began at 3:30AM when I awoke to get ready for the day. I packed all of my stuff into Stingray's navigator and we set out to pick up Griffin, Diehard, and Honeybadger. After about a 2 1/2 hour drive, we arrived at the field at approximately 7:35AM. We proceeded to get registered and chrono in. I then got a feeling for my surroundings and the approximate number of BOS members and Enclave members. I noted that there were a large number of Enclave walkons. This would leave the BOS to be outnumbered approximately 2 to 1. The briefing was called and the rules were explained along with safety guidelines. Everyone then went to their respective bases or respawn locations.
I then divided up my squads and assigned skill points, having made a team structure and assigned skill points a few days prior. Our initial strategy was to make haste for Canterbury Commons believing that ammo was going to be an extremely rare commodity. I had suspected that the Enclave was going to make the same move, so we had to literally give it all we had in the beginning to beat the Enclave since we had over twice the distance to cover. Once the horn rang we charged straight through megaton not expecting supermutants to being there. I must say that we handled the problem quite well. We were able to dispatch all three supermutants (Stingray got you Danarchy) in under 3 minutes and continue the charge toward Canterbury. Once on the edge of the Commons we were disappointed to learn that a small Enclave force had beaten us there. We would have been able to overwhelm and take care of the Enclave but they were sitting in a hospital even when not dead, preventing us from entering the Commons. This was a problem I will address in the changes thread.
Seeing that the Commons were inaccessible at the time, we pushed on to Tennpenny Tower. Once at the tower we set up a 360 defense and a trader resupplied us as we rotated out to get ammo. I then received reports that the Enclave contingent had left the Commons. I left my S.O.G. team to hold Tennpenny Tower while the rest of our forces proceeded to advance on the Commons. Much to our dismay there were 3 Enclave forces left. Yet again we could not fire at them since they were in the vicinity of a hospital. So while first squad and second squad held them down from the front, Command flanked around on the right. During this process I was yelled at by Geddon for brining a fight to a peaceful trading post. One of the Enclave soldiers then spotted me and we had a sort of standoff until we were told by Geddon to not fire in the trading area. So I approached the Enclave soldier and drew my knife. I knifed him, and proceeded to the rear of the two remaining Enclave soldiers behind a barricade. They soon surrendered as we surrounded them. After about 15 minutes the forces at Tennpenny Tower were pushed back by supoermutants and Enclave forces.
Geddon was angry that I had committed a violent act in the trading area but in my defense he said not to shoot in the trading area. We then set up a defense around the Commons, held it, and bought supplies. During this time I received multiple offers for work and protection but I was lacking men. BOS numbered in total about 18. I received reports that the Enclave was going into the mall district to steal currently unprotected valuables, so I dispatched a small element to disrupt them. Right as the hold mission was about to be completed, one of my men was reportedly being sold by a couple traders (namely Bolt). He had reportedly been captured by the raiders and sold off as a slave. After about 10 minutes of haggling and threats we negotiated that he would be an escort for the traders and not a slave, allowing me to complete recon missions and escort missions. After the hold mission was completed we went towards the Raider base, seeing how they were pre-occupied with Megaton. During this time I was told that Blackbird wanted to negotiate if we could help clear out the Enclave. I decided to help get rid of the Enclave that were positioned near Tennpenny Tower. This was primarily done to try and recapture the tower and distract the Raiders from their base while two of my S.O.G elements Mongoose and Lanbo infiltrated the Raider base and retrieved all valuables. After engaging a sizeable Enclave force I was hit and forced to medic at Canterbury Commons. After 20 minutes I respawned with 4 other BOS members and we proceeded to enter the now Raider controlled Megaton. During the approach two super mutants approached Megaton from the Raider base direction. We quickly formed a defensive line. I flanked right and was able to nail both Supermutants, the second getting a really nice burst in full auto. I was not able to catch this players callsign but he congratulated me on a good shot and was a great sport and fun fighting against. After this we returned to the center of town taking all forms of supplies and tech. We actually discovered a supply shed full of medical supplies. A large enough stash that pretty much supplied our medical supplies for the rest of the game. We then located two monitors across the road from Al's Raider and prostitute infested filth hole of a bar. I was then instructed to talk to Blackbird about the current BOS and Raider ceasefire. I was greeted with typical MRR trolling. I let my guard down and they were able to capture me for the slave trade. During this time Diehard and Stingray were also captured. Nice job MRR. I quickly paid to be let out of Al's Raider and prostitute infested filth hole of a bar that served as the holding cell. During my release I promised Al I would burn his Raider and prostitute infested filth hole of a bar down to the ground for consorting against me. I then traveled back to Pride Landing (BOS base) to respawn. During this time Stingray and other BOS members returned dead. After respawning we went back to Megaton to rescue Diehard only to have him returning back to Pride Landing, Having been rescued by a group of wastelanders. I was then informed that my S.O.G. element was told of our betrayal and capture by Al the owner of the Raider and prostitute infested filth hole of a bar. So I decided not to burn down Al's Raider and prostitute infested filth hole of a bar.
After the Raider trolling, there appeared to be a schism in their ranks, the group that knew BOS was now and enemy and the group that was still loyal. This would later play out to our advantage. We then went back into Megaton to secure the monitors, only to learn that Puma had secured them himself. We paid him 50 caps for him to reveal where he hid them. We then had one sent back to the BOS base. After the monitor was secure I walked up to two raiders, knifed one and took him hostage while the other was dispatched in a similar way. We then saw Bolt and I decided to try and sell the Raider to him for some caps or ammo. During our negotiations Jahona decided to open up on us. I was hoping that he was unaware of my status toward the Raider faction but he was. He tagged me in the ensuing fight but I was healed in by Aztec our medic. During this time my forces located the plasma rifle and other supplies near the Raider base.
After another fight all of BOS returned to Pride Landing with Bolt to conduct a raid on the Mall district. We then went the extremely long way around through the creek into the mall district.
We then moved up through the field into the Mall district on two flanks, one headed by me and the other by my XO Stingray. We ended up reconning and holding both objectives in the Mall District. We did not discover any tech or props in the area.
After holding the mall area for 30 minutes, the Northern most element commanded by me, moved onto the Enclave base. Stingray had joined our force and Diehard was in control of the southern force who returned to Pride Landing.
Moving towards the Enclave base it ended up being just Stingray and I to proceed onto the Enclave base. Once there it was a massive cluster of dead Enclave who we were unable to distinguish from alive or dead. We were not able to shoot those in the hospital and I was only able to take out one Enclave soldier who was posted near their bunker. I then ran inside the bunker and snagged the hard drive which was there was only one prop of in the entire field. I then ran back to Stingray who was in a ditch nearby. I stashed the hard drive in his pack and we came under fire from respawning Enclave. During our evac we were greeted by the remainder of the Enclave force who sandwiched us between their forces. We were then captured and searched, the hard drive taken. We then paid our way out of prison and returned to Pride Landing.
Props on getting us Plague.
This is where I would like to bring up a serious problem. The Enclave managed to buy the component on the field that we needed and there was only one of them. Getting an item back from a base that you cannot really shoot into is an almost impossible feat. Not to mention that the Enclave base is an amazing defensive position with trenches in front of their base and field between it and the rest of the AO. This was seriously hampering to our mission.
After we returned to Pride Landing and respawned the dinner horn blew. We then returned to the Republic of Dave for the raffle. The raffle was pretty cool and a lot of stuff was given out. After the raffle I gave Geddon my mission cards to be tallied against the Enclave’s. We then took a vote to extend dinner until 7:30, it was passed unanimously. Stingray, Diehard, Griffin, Honeybadger, and I then went to Wendy’s. After we ate, Griffin decided to fall into the BOS fold since his wasteland party had to leave. We then received all of the props and caps he had collected.
After re-gearing up we headed back to Pride Landing. Once there I noticed that our force had shrunk to about 8 BOS members. We had help from Griffin, Honeybadger, and Cormac who pledged their service to the BOS. We then moved into Megaton to try and stop a supposed Enclave envoy from negotiating with the Raiders, only to get cluster fuck*d into a shootout with just about everyone. It was probably about 30 on 6. After we were pushed out of Meagaton we set up a defense around Pride Landing and I negotiated with several groups of traders. I was approached by one trader who was attempting to build the mind control device and I refused to sell him the components necessary to complete it. This was not out of hoarding or greed; I was under the impression that the mind control device could be used on anyone. I was not going to allow him to construct a doomsday device he could use on us. During this time I also dispatched a team to covertly steal the Hard Drive from the Enclave base. I also managed to buy a power source for our mainframe. I ended up getting two trader groups to try and get the hard drive as well.
One of these groups (it was super dark and I am still unaware as to the members of this group), a group of 3, managed to walk right into the base and retrieve the hard drive. They promptly returned the hard drive to me.
Also Plague as far as I am aware, your night guards were distracted by one of the trader groups I sent in and were then taken out by the BOS group I sent to retrieve the Hard Drive. So good news, your night guards did not run off or leave, at least not until they were killed by us.
After I had the Hard Drive in my hands, we were golden. All the tech we had accumulated over the course of the day started to pay off. As we were assembling the mainframe we took fire from the west in the adjacent field. I believe that these forces were enclave. I instructed Stingray who was returning from the covert force to retrieve the hard drive to flank the attackers from megaton. He was able to dispatch several of them before being killed. After that the attacking forces retreated and with the mainframe secured I instructed all BOS forces to hit megaton and attempt to disarm the bomb, unaware that the mission ended at night. During this time we managed to secure a large portion of Megaton until the end of the game. Bolt and I also got into a fire fight, unaware that we were fighting each other.
In conclusion I had a great time. The game was extremely well developed but could use some tweaks.
I would like to thank all BOS members for attending and kicking ass. You assured us victory!
I would also like to thank all of Clan Reckoning and the supermutants for being great sports and players. You played the supermutant roles extremely well and were not afraid to act like supermutants walking out in the open spraying anything that moved.
I would like to thank Dave for letting us use his awesome field and shop.
I would also like to thank Plague for being an awesome opponent and overall being a great player. You put up one hell of a fight.
Lastly, I would like to thank Geddon for losing so much sleep to put together such an amazing OP. I really do enjoy your game styles and ingenuity.
Overall this was a great game and I look forward to attending next year.
