ok some people have been asking for this, so.... we will be having a CQB fight in the city. 10-4pm 20.00
there will be more props in town and more vehicles and other items in the town to make it a true CQB enviroment.
the rules are all guns under 300FPS "knife kills" and being able to touch someone = knife kill. everyone full face protection 5 foot engagement rule for guns thanks dave

Does this mean I can run with just a lightsaber? I've always wanted to skirmish in my tactical Jedi gear.

or just have it, and touch them with your hand. you must just have the ability to stab them.
ok you have your limited ed. red syth light saber and you are sneak up behind someone and g to poke him in the back.... just then he jumps back avoiding a hit from someone shooting at him and you poke him hard in the back and leave a big bruise and possibly a broken rib.
im trying to avoid that.

To make it even more barney level. If you have melee weapon in your right hand, you tag someone with your left.
But this does present a problem on another level Dave; What if you have those COD fan boys that want to run with a knife and pistol? Do they just turn the rubber blade side ways and tap or just a simple tap. There should be no need for overhead chopping action or a thrusting motion either.
Death star > light Saber anyday

So if there's knife kills why don't we just use safety kills to lessen the tension

you also have that option.

Safety kills in CQB are a hit and miss IMO. You can say safety kill someone but they can also just shoot you as well has happened to me as well. If you have dead to rights; your directly behind someone and they don't see you then kill is yours if you call it. What Dave is doing is allowing the actual physical contact in the form of a tag or tap, one which has never been allowed at the field. Dave is adhering to the customers requests and to try a new venue. Remember that this is a honor and physical game; shooting bb's at someone, adding another aspect to that will hopefully broaden game plays.

Some of us from Austin are actually planning on making the trip down to this. Are you expecting a good turn out? We're also looking forward to seeing the changes to the field since the last time we attended (the Op two years ago January) and might think about bringing a team down for the Reforger Op on the 21st. I've been out of the airsoft scene for about a year now and am itching to give it a go again. I enjoy CQB games and have not had a chance to give my Uzi a work out since the kill house in Austin closed. Hope to see you there. TR Edit: What is this obsession with "knife kills" anyway? Too much CoD for you kiddies methinks! Packing an Uzi and a couple of handgun, if I need to shank someone, I'm doing something wrong!

Agreed, they have that saying about brining a knife to a gun fight for a reason. Oh well, it should be a great time either way. You should definatly make the effort to go out there, I've only been playing on the field for a few months now, and it has changed plenty in that time, if you've not been out there in years, you'll be glad you made the trip.

Agreed, they have that saying about brining a knife to a gun fight for a reason It's a cliche' but it's largely true. I'm sure many have heard about the Salt Lake City PD study that resulted in the so-called "21 foot rule"....that is to say the amount of ground a kn ife armed attacker can cover before the average officer could unholster and fire his sidearm. Things are a bit different when the target of the knife attack has a weapon at the ready ready and is aware of the attacker. I'm not saying that contact range weapons like knives are harmless...far from it...but they are a very, very substandard choice against a firearm armed opponent. The other thing to consdier is that the way knives are depicted in the FPS games and in airsoft "knife kills" is pretty unrealistic. In the real world you don't just hit the shift key, and a lightning fast melee attack drops the target in one shot. In the last 20 years I've been witness to a couple of real world knife attacks (one fatal) and seen training footage of many others and in every case I've seen it takes a suprising amount of time for a knifed person to drop. Humans are pretty resilant critters after all. In the incident that really sticks in my mind, the victim ran around a fenced "recreation yard" for almost five minutes being repeated stabbed by three assailants before enough staff arrived to handle the situation. Even then the victim did not drop from his wounds untill after attack was over. My point is that while the "one shot, one kill" knife attack so populat amongst the CoD crowd does on occasion happen, it's pretty rare. But the rules are the rules and this is just a game after all! ;D I suspect that we'll be able to count the total number of "knife kills" on Saturday on one hand. Ok, I'll get down off my soap box now! Two questions about the event, while I'm here: -This IS on Sunday of next week, right? I'm just trying to finalize my plans for the weekend. I'm just double checking because I'm not privy to what weekend days are usually skirmish days at Temple. -Is full auto permitted, or are we restricted to semi-auto? I don't care either way, but I'm used to a set of rules that ban full auto from CQB play. TR

This is a Sunday game - Dave will be attending RDX on Saturday. (There is typically a skirmish on Saturday though)
As for the second question about Semi/Full Auto - Dave will need to address that.

Don't forget to wear a shemagh or something for neck protection kids!
Getting shot in the adams apple sucks.
Love, Kanga.
