I was just informed that a handful of players are getting riled up over WW II Airsoft impressions, and the niche of WW II airsoft.
I expected that we were all civilized and mature and would be open to new players to the area, even if they do something a little different.
WW II airsoft impressionists are men and women who come from all walks of life. We enjoy learning about the history of WW II, researching uniforms and weapons, and acting the part strictly for the enjoyment of airsoft and live role playing history reenacting.
We research the campaigns, we research the uniforms, we spend lots of money putting together a uniform and weapon so we look exactly the part. (hands down a WWII impressionist approximately pays 3 to 6 times what a normal airsofter would pay for a full loadout, as we have strict and high standards because we don't want to shame forefathers on all sides) The only difference is our guns fire bb's, not bullets.
I'll be brief on this:
German impressionists aren't Nazis, skinheads, facists, racists, etc. People just picked German for various reasons: uniform style, vehicle style (as many around the country have reproduction vehicles and tanks that they use in events) ect.
Russian & Italian impressionists aren't communist, Japanese impressionists aren't imperialist. SO ON AND SO FORTH!!!
We just enjoy actually researching the history! Researching the uniforms, ranks, ect. and learning how to play the part. Rather than buying some normal bdu's ordering a M4 or an ak with a highcap mag. (as we use mags and clips that hold the same amount of bb's as the real weapons did)
Now I would see the problem with someone particpating in an Allgeine SS uniform (as I'm guessing majority of you know thats the evil black uniform unit)
Let me explain what uniforms you may see ME in, so you know what to expect, and before starting an altercation why don't you use a library or search engine to figure out who the bad guys were instead of making every soldier out to be a bad guy.
Volkssturm Impression- basic civilian clothing with a VOLKSSTURM armband, not a Nazi party armband.[ type volkssturm armband into google and see it] ( you should never see a battle uniform of an impressionist with an Nazi party armband) In the last months of the war all males aged 16-60 who weren't forced into the armed services beforehand WERE FORCED into a 'National Guard' for Germany.
Free French Partisan Impression- wore civilian clothing, were partisans who fought with the ALLIES. Wore civilian clothing and some had a 'Free French' armband.
12th SS Impression (1945)- mostly a fully camoflauged division. They fought on most fronts, and had most casualties. It was made up of young men, who were majority forcefully removed from their homes and thrown into service. Just because they were an SS unit does not mean they were part of the Holocaust. YOUR THINKING OF THE ALLGEINE SS!
As Heer units didn't allow young or old men, when Germany was losing, SS divisions took the young and old, and foreign. The 12th had no part in the mistreatment or violations of the Geneva Code, or humanity towards anyone race, religion, or gender. They were just soldiers under the name..
I think I've clarified things. SO YOU WON'T BE PLAYING WITH A NAZI, RADICAL, IMPERIALIST, COMMUNIST, ect.

Here are some points from the international WWII forum:
What makes WWII Airsoft different than regular airsoft? Obviously the uniform and kit you wear. Getting this all together can be one of the most fun, frustrating, interesting, and financially stressing activities involved. Good and bad? Yep.
The good is that you don't have to settle for plain old US woodland camo anymore. You can pick up web gear, uniforms, helmets (yes you wear helmets) and other assorted items you had no idea existed. You'll start collecting stuff that you hadn't seen since you rummaged through your grandfather's old footlocker when you were a kid. Re-Enactors are very dedicated (read anal) about the way they look. Down to the stitch used on their pants, and I'm not kidding here. Once you start gathering your new WWII stuff, you'll be amazed at the detail and it makes that woodland camo and Blackhawk Crossdraw Vest look just plain and uninteresting.
Do your homework, be proactive, this is a very friendly environment, None of the bitter politics that is sadly associated with the Blank firing reenactment communities. That means don't go to the boards to start fights, if you do, you will be banned instantly. Use common sense. Be a good sport, and remember, WW2 is OVER! The people who reenact German soldiers are NOT racist supremacists hell bent on ruining the world. WE DO NOT ALLOW RACIST OR MILITANT IDEOLOGY IN OUR ORGANIZATION!

Hopefully this will clarify for anyone not able to research and find the truth.
