June 1983 last US forces leave South Korea, with a promise from the north never to attack.
May 1985 last US forces leave the Philippians.
December 1989 the Soviet forces declared victory over the last of the afghan freedom fighters.
February 1994 Pakistan government sides with the Soviet Union and declares itself a communist state.
1999 Last of the 500,000 ground forces leave Germany and Italy relying on Europeans to now fend for them selves. Airbases ( ramstine, spangolem, Hahn, Bitburg, Zweibrücken) are kept operational by the USAF in caretaker status just in case if ever needed.
July 2001 South Korea falls to a mass attack by North Korea, no US forces are in the area to prevent the attack.
2002 Communist take over of Italy makes NATO largely illrelivent in the mederanian forcing the 6th US fleet to withdraw to the Azores. Now only consisting of europs only carrier strike force with 6 ships total.
2005 active army is drawn down to 21 divisions (8 active, 7 reserve, and 6 national guard). Navy is down to 9 carrier battle groups. Air force is under 1800 tactical aircraft. USMC now has only 3 divisions with 2-reserve light MEUs. Total nuclear warheads in service 500
2007 soviet equipped Arab forces attack Israel. US president Ima N. Goar warns Israel that any nuclear exchange will not be tolerated. 25 nuclear warheads are used in the short war devastating the eastern Mediterranean. Only about 1 million survivors are able to flea to New Israel located in western Canada.
2009 elements (1 combat brigade each) of the 1st infantry and first armored divisions are moved back to Germany and reestablish a US ground presence for the first time in 10 years.
2011 active army is drawn down to 18 divisions (4 active, 8 reserve, and 6 national guard). Navy is down to 6 carrier battle groups. Air force is under 1000 tactical aircraft. USMC now has only 2 divisions with 2-reserve light MEUs. Total nuclear warheads in service 100 worldwide. Nato forces 4UK, 6 FRG, Holland and Belgium 2, Scandinavia 3, Spain 4, turkey 5. France 10.

100 divisions, 20 guards divisions, 12 East German divisions, and 22 Warsaw pact divisions. Italy 5 divisions, Soviet navy 200 combat ships, 4 carrier battle groups in Europe, 10,000 tactical aircraft.

Soviet navy sinks the USS Coral sea fast attack carrier in the north Atlantic with 300+ dead; it’s the only carrier in Europe. The soviet navy says the US carrier rammed a soviet sub causing the sinking of both ships. President Bardan agrees to pay 1 billion to the soviets as a good will jester. The attack is a test to check the resolve of a kinder US full of hope.
Soviet forces now be leaving that the west is ready, attack the west gaining a vast swath of Germany in 48 hrs.
President Bardan, Vice president shanan Jackson and there staff all resign en mass leaving the conservative speaker of the house to clean up the mess left by 30 years of socialism.
First order of business was to mobilize the entire US military and civilian sectors, second was to deploy new smart missiles to Europe with the ability to reach Moscow. The only problem was that with the short range they had to be launched near Berlin. So a group from the 1st infantry Division along with the 1st Nato division (UK/NL) and the 20th West German division had to get the missiles to far side of Berlin and fire them without being destroyed. Problem is that there are only 6 missiles in the entire NATO inventory.
To add to this is the fact that the Berlin police (west and east) have banded together and do not want their city destroyed again for the 2nd time in less than 70 years. They have banded together and have declared Berlin an open city that cannot be used by NATO or Warsaw troops without causing reprisals from the small but well armed and entrenched Berlin garrison.
NATO
Task: get the missiles into firing position and launch them.
Standard: get at least 2 missiles on target.
Soviet Forces
Task: eliminate the rocket threat.
Task No 2: take and hold Berlin.
Berlin Police forces:
Task: protect Berlin and its people.
Task No 2: keep the city open and confiscate all heavy weapons according to UN/ NATO/ SU agreement.
