Hey guys had a quick idea. I was browsing the internet recently and came accross this article on instructables. www.instructables.com/id/Prop-bomb/Interested I started working on a prototype and its looking promising (just because I could due to boredom). Out of curiosity would anyone maybe be interested in a Terrorist vs Counter-Terrorist game where one team plants the bomb and sets the timer and the other team has to be able to find it then disarm it via the code (which could be say randomly guessed with penalties (such as the timer jumps ahead a minute/hour or after x number of times the bomb goes off) or found on a member of the terrorist team).... Or any other type of scenario where you can add a bomb to it.

I'm working on something like this but a little more "dummy friendly" while still maintaining a challenge. I think games like this are lots of fun and add a more realistic feel to a simple and short game.

Also there is a cool apple app that is made for that, it's called ibomb. And I heard that it was illegal to transport a home made dummy bomb cause cops don't know it's not real

hoax devices are covered in the state law, you could get 5 years for transporting a real looking "bomb". and it you have something with a count down with wires that are live coming out of it you could get tagged for having a detonator.... be careful!!!!!

A couple of CSTAT guys built a "bomb" that does not look like a real one (unless foam noodles look like one to you). It is housed in a old mortar box and has two big brown buttons on the sides of the box one has to hold down at the same time to arm or disarm it. It makes sounds to tell everyone when it is armed, when there is only 30 seconds remaining, if its been disarmed, and finally it goes off if time runs out. Very fun and we have had some great local games with it.

It would be self contained in a small metal brief case i had. Then it would be painted in such a way so it would be obvious its a prop. It would pretty much have 2 modes. Either a hold the button to disarm (adjustable time) or key to disarm (using a simple key switch). That way you could use it for different tasks.

Have you thought about using a PIC MCU rather than an Arduino? They're ridiculously cheap and for something this rudimentary would work pretty well.

Well see I have like 5 of these laying around (long story). When I have the finished product i am just going to pull the ATMega328P chip off and just solder everything i need to another board.

Have you ever soldered a board for an MCU before?

im going to say to everyone to be careful with this subject. if you do it wrong or too right you can break the law and not even know it.
