Old saying - you get what you pay for. Although like any replica or design, Polar Stars are not for everyone. Several people on our team prefer the AEG design.

I'd prefer to be connected to my rifle by a sling and not by a sling and hose. Plus having to carry a tank, pressure gauge and a hose is not something I'd like to hoist around! But that's just me!

Ok. I want the best and most reliable gun out there. From what I here, that is the polarstar. Apparently you can change the fps by adjusting the air regulator so you can make it a CQB, a field, a support, or a sniper. That's really nice. And there's no little gears to break down

Basically, is the polarstar worth saving for?

I have played paintball with a "remote" set up kind of like I see the Polar Satr users emplying. I didn;t like it as I found the constant "tugging" from the remote line distracting and limiting to my mobility. But other's milage may vary. I also might not have been usling a long enough hose.

Just remember the engine is not your only expense, you still need a tank, remote line, and the added trouble of tank fills, don't forget the polarstar still requires batteries for the FCU. You may also want to add on/off valve to the the tank side of your remote, and a slide check with QD to the gun side. Those will make your life so much easier in the long run. Also, is your tac rig able to hold the tank, or will you be needing something custom to hold it. Kinda makes you stuck if you ever wanna go high speed low drag, you always have to consider the baby bump (AKA the Tank)

I wouldny carry anything else besides a pistol. I'd just get a 5,000 round box magazine and a pistol

Fair enough... just remember... on/off valve & slide check if you decide to go this route. Also be sure that all your fittings & lines are rated for the full pressure of your tank. Some feel it unnecessary, but I've seen some scary things happen when that primary reg fails on a HPA tank.

If I buy one, which won't be for a looong time, I'll pay Dave or somebody to set it up. I don't want to screw around with it. With my luck the tank would blow up or something

and on that note ... if you buy a used tank check the date on it. If it's beyond the safe date, you may need to hydro test it before use. Places that know what they are doing will refuse to fill the tank if it has not been hydrotested and deemed safe.
