Providing some fireproof uniforms? Going to have to bring my Nomex flight suit next time. ;D
Seriously
More sandbag bunkers! OR in the case of Texas dirt, rockbags.
A couple of breaks in the long run of barbed wire fencing. Unless your aim is to funnel people into the village by the couple of existing openings.
Maybe a 'Nam style firebase somewhere. Could be interesting.

nam firebase is planned just up the way from the town, on it. where the sand bag bunker is, next work day we are going to change that into bunker / trench area. looking to get a back hoe and scrape about 1000 ft of trenches and get 2-3 oo sand bags and logs for that area. fireproof nomex are on sale at the shop. 50.00 a set... smart ass

I'd like to see the town really take life with some props and whatnot. We could put up some clothes lines, street lights (Fake or the solar powered ones you wanted), parked cars, trashcans, and maybe even some flower beds haha. Stuff that would make you feel like you are playing in an actual town where people have recently been living. Painting the buildings like you've started doing would really help that feeling come along.
And I keep getting visions for a stinger missile nest like the ones in Command & Conquer Generals edition! Just a ring of sandbags with a camo netting roof about 5 feet above it.

paint: have 30 gal on hand, just needs sprayed.
trash cans: 6 x 55 gal drums on the way.
lights: allready on it, have the wires and going to get the rest by the 14th. just need help stringing them up and wireing them.
that way we could have a night practice game on prior to or on the night of red tide.
the looked look: installing a playground, and 2 bridges in the town, also have 2-4 more jeeps coming on the site to play around.
its all planned just need time, help, and $$$
and everything posted is in the works, not dreams. thanks all

Holy crap, that's a great idea, Spooky! Haha, it'd be really easy to find old clothes or whatever and hang them up on clotheslines. That'd add some flavour to the town.
Trenches and sandbagged bunkers between the hilltop complex and the town would be a great idea.
You know those three-person waterballoon launchers? They take two people to brace and the third person pulls back and let's fly? If we got one (or more) of those, and some COLD burning flares, we could 'call in' smoke missions without the refs having to wander out into the middle of a firefight. Personally, I think it would be really cool.
On the other hand... It might not be entirely Safe...

No, it's totally cool. Dodging flying-smoke-grenades is half the fun! It would, um... totally add to the realism... yeah... sigh. It was worth a try.
I have a question, how will we do artillery if we're shelling the town? I assume that that might come up, one of these days.

Hey Dave what all were you planning on doing with the Vietnam field and firebase area? Because you could backhoe up some trenches back there, then cover them with plywood and a little dirt to make some tunnel systems for the vietcong. Hooch villages like gunman suggested wouldn't be too hard either, just needs a building frame and some bamboo or white cane walls.

The field is GREAT. A lot of fun and you don't really need to do anything to improve it. My suggestions are around game play.
1) The town is perfect. Good to go.
2) I would establish specific landmarks as "timeouts" where players who are hit can go, touch the landmark and be good for game play. Much easier than waiting a certain # of minutes and provides more exercise, too. If you touch it, you're good to get back in the game.
3) Provide more barriers in the field around the missle launcher - i.e., things to hide behind. Assaulting an obstacle from an open field is difficult, unless you have cover (maybe that's the idea?). I suggest adding a few big rocks or cinder block bunkers. Anythng to run to as you assault the missle launcher. Hide and shoot is a lot of fun. Advancing on a bunker is even more fun, if you're not an open target. FWIW - Ed Downs

ed thanks and great to see your "army" out
the vietnam area is on the other side of the marsh and we will be building that after things dry out. have about 6 acres for it, so keep planning and get ready for that ork day.
the bunkers, finished toubruck yesterday and am working on bunker #2 (crete) now. it will be done by sundays game.
will have 2 more finished (aggie fort and another) by the time red tide comes.
added 4 more buildings to the town.
planted 200+ corn plants beteen the town and tobruck for screening and BBQ.
also just spent a bunch on the road so we will see if things get better there.
thanks dave

If that turns out to be a full corn field, I would be SOOOO happy. The remarks about raptors and aliens and mel gibson would not cease.
