So my birthday is coming up (on May 14th) and i'm getting a gun (As long as it's under 400$) and the gun i was going to get is apparently HORRIBLE and i quote "the spawn of AEG hell. so yea i'm thinking about getting a KWA because i've heard pretty good things about them or an ICS because Dave has told me really good things about them. So any input on my gun "situation" would be highly appreciated ;D.

KWA M4 is a great gun, The Fn f2000 Is also a good if you want a bullpup gun, I have the G&G fn herstal scar-l and I love it. But in the end: it really depends on your play style.

What exactly were you originally planning on getting?

KWA good as long as you leave it stock and dont mess with the internals.
ICS - Propritary parts very annoying
CYMA - Great AK's, Among the best in the market IMO.
Tokyo Mauri - Simply put it's a TM, but usually underpowered.
Echo 1 - Great guns, every now and then a lemon will pop out. More than I would like.
Ares - Extrenally good guns, internals are good to. But the price is not to be desired.
VFC - If you can find it in stock...
G&G - Good guns, Good internals, usually a little pricey.
Classic army - Internals are good
or you could always just get new internals for your current gun and go from there. with some goodies added to it.

Socom Gear is iffy at best.
G&P makes very nice M4's if that's the style you like.

Poo made really great points. His is a great guide to the market you are after. But when it comes down to it, it's your decision. Pick something that you are gonna be comfortable with. Know for MY opinion lol. I would go with G&P (thats what I run) or a Tokyo Mauri (legendary performance even though they are under powered 350 sub, they are built like tanks and will last forever not to mention GREAT Hop-Up)

Don't get me started on my rant on AREs internals.

CYMA AKs all the way! ;D Though they might shoot a little hot at first But no Javelin, Internals are no good, especially the wiring. Externals aren't that good either. G&G is good externals and internals, and usually have pretty good stock performance. Classic Army is pretty good, but no no on their sportslines.

socom gear is a rebrand of VFC / WE and other higher end platforms and they tweek them.
also the newer javalon M-4s are good mid to entry platforms. they have new features not seen before so are sometimes misunderstood.
the first batches of javalons were suposed to be recalled but some of the larger on line places kept selling them resulting in a bad reputation.

Socom gear is OEMed by VFC... Far from iffy. Some use VFC gearboxes (not that great btw), but the only info on the PWS line I can find points to it being a glorified Combat Machine (which could explain the plastic body). Whether it is a CM or VFC GB I'm not entirely sure, but either way there are better guns for that price. (CA M15A4, G&P M4, ICS M4) Plastic bodies are fine for a regular plastic handguard, but the weight of a rail system tends to cause them to wear out and start wobbling much quicker.

i would agree and disagree with you. the older plastic body guns were bad the newer metal bodies are trash, i have had to fix 4 this month. when they break thats it.
the newer polimar HD plastic what ever you want to call them is what i use and what i would recomend. they break far less and cost less to fix. its what im seeing as a dealer, wish it was not true but thats the truth right now

Ditto Dave. My JG M-4 S-System is built like a rock. Polymer body with metal rail system and it is tight. I've dropped it several times. I've repainted several times. I've taken it apart and cleaned and relubed several times. I'm a tinkerer. The thing is built solid. And I keep hearing the ears break very easily on the upper metal receiver. With plastic, they flex. Just my two cents.

I replaced the metal body on my CA M15A4 with a polymer one.
