due to stupid people all over the country on and off the field we will have some MANDATORY changes to the field at the end of the month......
full face, wire or plastic lower face and goggles are ok.
brl bags for long guns
dead rags
ears covered
thats what happens when you get a owie and go and cry to the insurance co. this is a nation wide change that will in time cover all airsoft insurance carriers.

Too bad its not like it was 50-100 years ago where if you got hurt it was your own darn fault, no matter whose property you were on and what you were doing. Way too many people want to blame their own stupidity on anyone who can give them money, and because "the people" want it, the legislature and the courts gave it to us.

Can you define ear protection? Everyone has to wear shooting earmuffs or Com-Tacs?

I would say yes, as long as you abide by all current and new rules regarding safety. Mind you part of the new rules are ear protection. So like I said if ALL the rules are being followed there shouldnt be a problem

Can you define ear protection? Everyone has to wear shooting earmuffs or Com-Tacs? Probably just have to have the mask set up that extends back over the ears. My slimline mask has side panels that do, most paintball masks do too.

Dave, will a balaclava or shemag and goggles suffice for face/ear cover?

Yes, a barrel sock, or barrel cover that will in theory catch the bb's at the muzzle if the replica is accidently fired.
Depending on your brand of gun, you may already own one... that funny looking orange / red plastic piece that came in the box with your gun that looked like a spent shotgun shell.

If you can make it to the field on APR21s, even if you're not playing OP: Aftermath, i'll have 100 barrel socks for sale at only $5.41 (after tax). You are welcome to drop in, see the game, buy a sock. Chat a while... hell why not register and play while you are there?
Just saying. Socks aren't expensive and they solve a ton of safety issues.
As far as glasses type eyepro questions go: Here's the ruling, best i can understand: Full sealing is defined as "gasket sealing" which means it has some kind of foam or rubber seal to make contact with your face. Plain and dry polycarb shooter glasses with no foam will be a no-go.
According to the text in the current rules ive been reading from the "big three" insurance carriers (and Dave has one of the big 3) a Shemagh or Balaclava will work, you just HAVE to wear it.
No more discretionary protection. Even if its just 1 layer of cloth, you can't have an uncovered face or ears anymore.
Welcome to the new standard
Sucks that some people had to mess it up for us

Important to note:
A lot of people dislike North Texas Airsoft.org cuz they go after pirate games or the backyarders who post unsafe images on facebook, etc...
Did you know: Insurance companies poll medical facilities for ER visit statistics. They look at these broad-base statistics when they make decisions that affect games like airsoft.
For example: 12.5% of all non-fatal ER visits in the year 2000 were caused by a bb gun. This includes Airsoft, although i cant tell you what portion of the 12% is ACTUALLY airsoft.
it doesn't matter how you get hurt playing airsoft, or where, or if insurance is an issue. if you end up in the ER because of it, you're hurting our case with the insurance folks. If you lose a tooth or need stitches and seek emergency medical attention, they will use that against us and tighten safety regulations.
Some guy's self inflicted eardrum wound from horse-farting around made it to the insurance underwriter and that case contributed to the ear protection rule. Its not the only reason why we have ear pro required, but it DID contribute.
Hopefully people start to wise up and play ball with this whole "safety" thing before they take the whole darn sport away.

Way too many people want to blame their own stupidity on anyone who can give them money, and because "the people" want it, the legislature and the courts gave it to us. Not necessarily true...This past TX Legislative session our Legislature proposed and enacted in a law a bill that ends frivilous lawsuits. So if Joe Blow gets hurt and sues, etc. when he loses, he has to pay all expenses for the other party, included his own. In most TX courts, especially around Temple, this will end all ignorant lawsuits that a field owner could encounter.

i love that law butttttt here is the issue moron #1 goes and refuses to do the right thing and gets hurt.
files a clame with the ins co.
threatons to sue.
the ins co. says what the heck, settel.
the ins co now rases the rate of the ins or closes the policy.
end result is that the moron gets a little money and the other players loose the venue due to the insurance co not wanting to cover the event or the price to play has to go up and no one wants to pay the higher price,,, and it closes.
